How to hide sitemap.xml from public view

How to hide sitemap.xml from public view

I have my website  <domain>.com and the sitemap is visible to everyone at <domain>.com/sitemap.xml. What is the procedure to hide it from public view? I don't want my competitors to see what I have in my website. In fact my competitors have hidden it, but it is exposed on my website.
Pls resolve this issue
