how to move category or subcategory without deleting content

how to move category or subcategory without deleting content

if i created a category or subcategory and later decide I want to either rename it or move the content from one to another, how can this be done?

when i go back to the content page and click edit. all i get is the ability to edit the content of the page only, not which category it is placed in.
