How to pull Free Text value into message body

How to pull Free Text value into message body

I am trying to pull a free text field from my form into the message of a sendmail script. It looks like this needs to be an on submit rather then an on success action because the FreeText field does not show up as an available field in the on success tab whereas it ddoes show up in the on submit tab. I just can not get the syntax right. I have tried this.FreeText and input.FreeText but when I submit I get the error that no value has been submitted. Please advise. Thanks!!
