I am new to Zoho and am testing it out with spread sheet data before I purchase it. I uploaded about 300 contacts I found.   I now need to add some custom fields under Contacts.  I found some advice online to click a GEAR ICON in the upper right select PREFERENCES.  Go to CONTACTS sub tab where you'd find the optionh to add 10 CUSTOM FIELDS.

The problem is this must be old advice.  There is no GEAR ICON that leads to PREFERENCES.  I am an expatriate in a foreign country and I absolutely have to track English speaking customers to be able to assist with sales.  If I can't add this field, I can't use Zoho.  Can anyone offer any help?

I have tried playing with the database and did get to an editor field with Contacts.  I am limited to 308 Fields and it says they are all used.  When I try to delete a field it does not work.  Can anyone help?
