How to update or modify potential created date? to calculate sales cicle

I want to reconstruct the history for the sales cycle , but the date of creation of the potential can not be modified. Also in many cases several of my employees , create potential and not up on time, or some times something is missing, when recovering also like to change the creation date to obtain the most successful sales cycle .
