Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem?

We have various email lists of potential clients organisezed by region.We want to send out batches of introductory emails to each, then depending on responce we'll email each list again with another email template with other offers. eg. All our leads in Texas get a first email and if they show interest we can follow up with one of several additional offers.

Q: How do we mark against each lead which emails they have got so far so we can sort them and send a different offer out. In other words a history of mass emails a lead has been involved in?

I'm thinking maybe we set up different 'status' options eg. first email, second email, third email etc but this doesn't show a history of the mass emails sent to leads, just the one they sent last.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
