I am getting errors when I try to save a contact after editing

I am using google chrome on windows 7. I am having problems editing contacts. I open the contact from the email view, select "edit" add information to notes then try to save and I get an error every time. Have I set something incorrect or is there something wrong with your contacts app? The error message appears in red at the top of the page as soon as I click save, but disappears when I launch snip.
