2. It becomes very tedious to run a search/report with criteria every day, so that i obtain the list of those contacts whose birthdays are falling today

3. Hence, I want to create a new formula column ( i know it works only for future created records, but still) :

In my contacts - 

Date of Birth is in a given column already

I want to create a field which gives the difference between today and the Next Birthday. Eg : 

- if Date of Birth is 29th Dec 1982, this field should show me the figure 11 ( today is 18th Dec 2012). 

- if Date of Birth is 15th Dec 1986, this field should show me the figure 362 (since today is 18th Dec 2012, and there are another 362 days for the next birthday)

What i will do is : Every day i will sort ascending order in the contacts tab view, and when i get the figure 0, i will send a manual email greeting to each of them
