Importing Accounts and Contacts with the Same First and Last Names, and the Same Account Names

Many of my Account and Contact records have the same first and last names, so by looking at the names, it would appear that we have a lot of duplicate records, but they’re not duplicates.

I imported the Accounts first. When I imported the Contacts, I included the Account Name column. But since the Account Name is the first name and last name (almost all individuals), and many Accounts have the same Account Name, half the contacts with the same first and last names linked to the wrong Account.

When importing, is there a way to assign a contact to an account other than by the Account Name alone since the account names are not unique?

If not, is there a quick, easy way to re-assign contacts to the correct accounts other than by looking at the Account Name alone?
