Importing of Word documents with Equations

So I've been comparing the import capabilities of Zoho and Google docs. Your formating of the text is much better than Google, so big +1 there.

However, when importing equations from Microsoft Word to Zoho, it seems that funny symbols like + and = are not properly imported (but it handles fractions just fine).

Two questions:
1. Is any effort being made to improve the import of technical documents (which include equations) from Microsoft Word to Zoho.
2. Is there a format I can save my Microsoft Word document in which will make it easier for Zoho to understand?

I ask these questions because I have used the converter that comes with OpenOffice to convert my Word .rtf files to .html (HTML 4.01 I think) documents and they look magnificent and very functional.
