Improve Back Navigation (X Button) Inside Nested Milestones, Task Lists, Tasks, and Issues

Hi Zoho Projects Team,
We would like to request an improvement to the X / close button navigation behavior inside milestones.

Currently, the milestone area behaves as a nested hierarchy (tree structure):

Project → Milestone → Task List → Task

So when going via this tree to a task - this task is nested in the task list nested in the milestone etc.

and similarly:
Project → Milestone → Issues

So when going via this tree to a issue - this issue is nested in the milestone etc.

The Issue:

However, the current X button behavior does not respect this nested structure.

At the moment, no matter how deep we navigate inside the hierarchy, clicking the X button redirects us all the way back to the main milestone list, instead of taking us one level back in the tree.

For example:
  • If we open a milestone and click X, returning to the milestone list is correct
  • But if we then open a specific task list inside that milestone, clicking X should return us to the task lists inside that same milestone - But as for now clickn the X return us to the project milestones' list.
  • If we go one level deeper into a specific task, clicking X should return us to the task list we came from - But as for now clickn the X return us to the project milestones' list.
  • The same applies to issues inside a milestone: clicking X from an issue should return to the issue list of that milestone, not to the global milestone list

Because this section is naturally structured as a nested tree, always jumping back to the top level breaks the expected navigation flow and makes the experience cumbersome and counterintuitive.

We kindly request that the X button behave as a contextual “go one level up” action, preserving the current branch of the hierarchy.

This would significantly improve usability when working in large projects with many milestones, task lists, tasks, and issues.

Thank you for considering this enhancement.

Kind regards,
Ram
