Inline Pictures

When I try to insert a picture inline, rather than as an attachment, I only get a black box...

The picture is a jpg/jpeg, and is 1.48 MB, which is under the 3.0 MB size limit...

Can anyone give me an idea as to why this is?...

The receiving person is also only seeing a black box...
