inserting images

I have created several presentations and always inserted images. Tonight I cannot insert any images. When I click on the icon in the tool bar, it just continues to say "loading"...even after I hit browse, find the file I want to insert, and click insert, it just continues to say "loading" and the image never appears on the slide.

What gives? My presentation is tomorrow (Tues 4/15)...*sigh. Can you help?
