Internationalization
Internationalization
Hi,
I've just come to Zoho for the first time. It looks quite promising, but the internationalization has me a bit worried.
Let me tell you my sob story. I live in Japan but am originally from the U.S.
I know I'm a minority user in this respect, but I find it incredibly, unbelievably
annoying when sites attempt clever locale/language detection based on IP.
This is made even more aggravating when the site has spotty, or error-filled support
for the auto-detected language, as seems to be the case here with Japanese.
This can be fixed really easily, with a button or drop-down box in the top menu
on every page. With such a button, I can say, browse to
http://show.zoho.com/login.do
and if the display language is not to my liking I just click the 'English' (the word
'English' is a pretty safe bet for everyone), and then pick my language.
I also noticed that in the 'profile' section, after you've registered (it seems you can change
the language at all until you register) the language list shows all language option
in their English gloss - e.g. "日本語" is displayed as 'Japanese', even though my
language has already been auto-detected (against my will) as Japanese. It seems
that the language options should be written in the language of the option.
I also notice that the auto-detection seems to be very inconsistent, some pages
render in Japanese, and some in English.
Anyway I know I'm a minority user, but it would be really nice to have a way of
picking your language on any page.
