Introducing tagging of records in Zoho CRM!
We are pleased to announce the introduction of tags in Zoho CRM. You can now add keywords to a single record or a bunch of records as "tags", for better identification of sorts.

Suppose you have just returned from a trade show in London, and you are importing the leads obtained from the event. You can simply tag them as "London Tradeshow Leads" and this will be applied on all the records imported in that one batch. This way you can ID them better.

Creating tagsTags are module-specific. To create tags for a module, simply head over to the
Manage Tags section from the
More option in a module and click
Add New Tag. The tags created here can be associated to a record in the following ways:
- Record Detail Page - Add tags manually to a single record.
- Import - Add tags to a batch of records imported into a module.
- Workflows - Automate the addition of tags to records meeting workflow criteria on a specified rule trigger.
- Bulk update tags - Add tags to a selected bulk of records in a module.
- Webforms - Add tags to records generated via a webform.
- Blueprint - Automate the addition of tags to records at the completion of a Blueprint Transition.
Working with tagsOnce you have added tags to records, they will become part of the record information via a field called Tag. This field can be used as part of criteria to execute several CRM functions. That is, the tags applied to records can be used as the basis for filtering records in a module, creating reports and dashboards or as part of workflow automation.
For example, with criteria as "
Tag is
London Tradeshow Leads", you can
- Create a custom list view for London Tradeshow Leads.
- Create reports and dashboards based on London Tradeshow Leads.
- Filter out records using advanced filters and global search based on the London Tradeshow Leads.
Example: Use advanced filters to quickly filter out London Tradeshow Leads with overdue activities or bounced emails. - Automate an acknowledgement email to leads whenever they get tagged as London Tradeshow Leads. (Here the criteria for the workflow rule is based on the Tag).
- Automate the addition of tag London Tradeshow Leads whenever Tradeshow City is London. (Here the action of tag assignment is automated).
You can also carry over a lead's tags to contacts/accounts/deals on conversion.
