Introducing ZDK CLI (Beta): our latest developer tool for Zoho CRM metadata management
Hello Developers!
We are delighted to announce the release of ZDK CLI (Beta), a set of powerful command-line tools designed to simplify the way you manage your Zoho CRM org's metadata (customizations) and your team collaborate to customize Zoho CRM. ZDK CLI is tailored to meet the needs of developers and partners working with Zoho CRM.
Key Features of ZDK CLI:
- Metadata Management: Make changes to the retrieved metadata and push those changes to your organization. The supported metadata are profiles, roles, modules, fields, and layouts.
- Widget Management: With ZDK CLI, managing widgets becomes a seamless experience. You can handle all aspects of widget management directly from ZDK CLI.
- Integration with Version Control Systems (VCS): If you are a developer customizing Zoho CRM, with the metadata pulled from Zoho CRM using ZDK CLI, you can track your changes in your preferred VCS.
- Customize orgs seamlessly: For Zoho CRM partners or developers, ZDK CLI facilitates the export of a set of metadata pertaining to a use case, which in turn can be pushed to any CRM org. It enhances easier inter-CRM metadata movement.
ZDK CLI is available in Enterprise, CRM Plus, Ultimate, and Zoho One editions including trial editions. In the beta release, only sandbox environments are supported.
The commands in ZDK CLI are similar to mercurial commands which helps reducing the learning curve to adopt it. Here are some of the primary commands available in ZDK CLI:
- zdk org:pull : Pulls the metadata to the local ZDK CLI project directory.
- zdk org:pull:update : Updates the local ZDK CLI project directory with the pulled data.
- zdk meta:create {type} : Adds new Zoho CRM metadata. Supported metadata types are modules, fields, layouts, widgets, profiles, and roles.
- zdk org:push : Pushes changes to org.
- zdk org:export : Exports the ZDK CLI project in a zip file to share it with other developers.
