Is it possible to create dependencies to view custom fields?

Is it possible to create dependencies to view custom fields?

I don`t want all of our custom case fields to be displayed on a blank case, since all are typically not applicable. 

Is is possible to make the display of one field dependent on the selection of a certain response in another field?

I.E. Favorite color = blue, then display Favorite Shade (ocean blue, sky blue, or turquoise blue)
