I am relatively new to zoho, but am a big fan. You guys offer a lot of great features other email providers don't. I think the zoho interface is great and am hoping there are no big changes planned in the near future. So many other providers like hotmail and yahoo have redone their interfaces and they have become horrible, which is why I went looking for a new email provider and found zoho.
All that being said, there are a few minor layout customizations that seem to be missing from zoho that I had in many other accounts, that were extremely useful. I am hoping you will consider adding these in the very near future.
1. Adjustable column widths. With the extreme variations in screen sizes we use to check mail, it would be really, really helpful to be able to drag the edge of the mail field columns so we could grow or shrink the from, subject, etc columns.
2. Ability to change display order of column headings. It would be very helpful to be able to change the display order of the column headings, especially again, with limited screen space. So, for example, the label color and date could be displayed to the left of the from field rather than all the way at the end after the subject.
And when a filter is applied like viewing all emails with a particular label, it would be helpful to be able to move the column which displays what folder the email was in to the left side of the from and subject fields.
3. Option for label color to be applied across entire message row. The label feature that you offer is really great. It would be even better if there was an option to make the entire background of the message's row the color of the label (or primary label if multiple labels are assigned) rather than just the little box to make it easier to see the label colors more quickly without taking up more screen space.
4. Sorting on more of the mail field column headings such as from, subject, folder, and label:
From column - The feature you already offer to be able to easily filter by a right click on an email ID is great, and the search function is great, but it still would be extremely beneficial for many reasons if we could sort by the from column. One example would be if you want to be able to easily see all emails in the inbox grouped by the sender without having to repeatedly filter on an email id. And, this would be a quicker and easier way to view emails from a particular sender in just one folder such as your inbox, rather than also seeing emails that may already have been filed in other folders that you want to exclude from your search. If they were sorted by the from email address, you could scroll to that email group easily.
Subject Column - This would be really helpful when going through large chunks of emails or folders with many emails. By sorting by subject, it is easier to view "auto emails" such as payment confirmations, shipping or order confirmations, reminders, newsletters, social networking alerts, etc., and makes setting up filters, folders, labels, etc much much easier.
Folder column - It would also be extremely helpful, when a filter is applied like viewing all emails with a particular label, to be able to sort on the column which displays what folder the email was in. So you could not only see emails filtered by a specific label, but so you could also order them by folder and view them as folder groups.
Label column - It would be very helpful to be able to sort by the label column, so if you have a lot of emails with different labels in one or across multiple folders, you could see them grouped by label all at once rather than having to filter by one label type at a time.
5. Filtering a filter. It would be great if when you applied a filter, for example, filtered your view to show emails with a specific label, you could then right click on an email alias, the subject, and/or on the name of the folder which contains the email, to further filter your results. Right now, right clicking on the sender's email resets your label filter and shows you all emails from that sender rather than just the ones that had that particular label, and you can't right click on the folder name at all. And of course, this would be helpful the other way around. If you filter by an email address, the ability to then further filter by label, subject, or folder name by right clicking on a label color would be great. The search function gives you some of the abilities, but not as easily as right clicking and not with label searching.
6. Adding the "To" field in the inbox. Many of us are using zoho for the ability to manage multiple accounts or have multiple accounts forward to one unified inbox. Since many of the very useful filters wind up combining emails from multiple folders in one list (for example, filtering emails by a specific label shows all emails with that label in all folders), it would be really helpful to have the option to be able to also see which of my accounts the email was sent to in the mail fields. And, of course, this should be a sortable header like the date field is.
There is also a feature that I have not had in other email accounts but think would be really great - some way to lock folders, filters, settings, etc. so they can't be changed or deleted by accident. With touch screen devices and tiny screens, it is so easy to accidentally drag and drop a folder where you don't mean to, to click on something accidentally that changes the layout, etc. If there was a way to lock and unlock the ability to change these things, it would be very helpful.
Lastly, I had a question about label names. I have seen references to and instructions on how to show label names in your forums and help area, but, the setting no longer seems to be there. Is this setting gone? Your help file says:
"How should I change the label display settings in the Mail listing? In the Mail listing tab, you can choose to display the name of the label or just the small colored icon indicating the label applied to the mail. To set this, choose ‘Display Label Name’ or ‘Display only icon’ for the Label Display behavior in the Layout Settings." But I can't find these options.
Thank you very much for your consideration and hopefully additions of these features. Again, zoho is such a superior product to the other email providers that are out there. It has some really great, useful, time saving features. These are just a few minor things that would make a big difference to a lot of people who use your product.
