Limit on number of shipping addresses

We have some B2B customers whose business partners place orders on us. These orders are billed to the B2B customer, but we will add a shipping address for the business partner who places the order, to whom we ship the order.

In the course of transactions for a customer, we found that only a max 12 shipping addresses are allowed. This has become sort of a stumbling block. We have worked around this by recycling any of the existing shipping addresses.

Is there any reason this limit is set? Can this be freed up?
