Line Spacing

I am trying to change the line spacing. At present, the spacing seems to be double spacing. When I go into PAGE SETUP, PAGE FORMAT, LINE SPACING, SINGLE, APPLY, it tells me "Settings Saved Successfully," but I still have double spacing in my document. I need HELP to actually get single spacing. Thanks, Charlie
