Link a New Note to a Contact Record AND a Potential Record

I would like to be able to link a Note to a related record in a different entity just like you can with Tasks and Events.

We typically add most of our notes to the related Potentials record. However, when the Potential is Closed or Lost, we continue to add notes to the Contact record. It would be very helpful if we could select both the Contact and the Potential using a Lookup field just like you do with Tasks and Events.
