Linking events to accounts/contacts and showing account name in event page

When I create a new event (from either the activities tab or directly in the account or contact pages), the event appears in the list of events in the activities tab, but not on open/closed activities section of the account/contact. This is unlike calls, which DO appear in the list of open/closed activities
 
Also on the event page, it lists the invitees, but you cannot link to the contact - it is just black text as opposed to a blue link.
 
Also, on the event page it doesn't say what account the contact belongs to, and I can't alter the related lists columns for invitees on the events page to add it. So basically, this leaves a list of names, with no idea who they are, what account they belong to and no link to click to, meaning searching for their names manually, which seems very odd and an unneccessary extra effort.
 
Can't the contact names be listed with their account and with the name as links?
