Mac Mail not detecting updates to Zoho Mail made by other devices

Mac Mail not detecting updates to Zoho Mail made by other devices

In Mac Mail set up for IMAP I am finding I have to quit Mail and reopen to get it to recognize that I deleted messages with my iPad or via the Zoho web apps.  Previously when using Zimbra as my IMAP mail server the Mac Mail would recognize when I deleted messages on my iPad.  

How do I change my configuration to get this to work, or is Zoho Mail not providing the Mac Mail with the information it needs to refresh itself?  Thanks in advance.
