mail app keeps adding email address to contacts, how to stop this?

Hey Guys, well first off I wasnt sure if this should go into the mail forum other contact forum so if its in the wrong place please move accordingly.

I keep noticing when I go to add a contact to my contacts app and click save after adding all the contact details I keep getting the error msg that the email address is already in contacts. This is quite annoying as I have to go find that email address and retype all the contact details.

In addition, some of the emails being automatically added to my contacts are people who I have no regular relationship with.

For example, I might submit a form on a company website requesting information. There may be a couple emails going back and forth between me an that company but then I may never speak to them again. This is putting unnecessary data into my contacts.

Further more when I had gone to a site like linkedin for example it asks if you would like to send a notification to all your contacts. When selecting yes, the system goes through all your contacts including all those miscellaneous emails that were auto added to my contacts.

Im sure when this feature was released that it was with good intention but it just doesn't seem to work well in day to day practice. At least not for myself as Im sure some people may benefit from this feature.

Is there a way to control how mail will interact with contacts and limit what emails are automatically getting added to contacts?
