Mail Merge does not maintain line spacing when emailed

Mail Merge does not maintain line spacing when emailed

I create a mail merge document and the template looks great, with line spacing between paragraphs. However, when it gets sent out as an email and viewed in MS Outlook, the resulting text is all bunched together with no line spacing, but when it's viewed in webmail the formatting is ok. What's going on?????
