Mail Merge- how to include a field only if it is not empty?

When doing a mail merge with multiple leads, is there a way of making it so if a selected field is empty, it does not insert anything onto the letter?
For example, I want to include the Lead Salutation, but for some of my leads this field is empty. If I include it in the merge, for any leads that do not have a salutation entered, '<Leads_Salutation>' still appears after the merge.
Is there a way to remedy this?
