Mail Merge not working with phone numbers

I'm using zoho CRM doing a mail merge with multiple phone numbers.  This is all based out of the 'Contacts' page.  When I merge the phone number that is for the client (the one built in to the 'Contacts' page) it merges correctly for format '(123) 456-7899'.  When I merge any of the other phone numbers that I added to the form it comes out '1234567899' on merge.  When I added the fields I added them as phone number fields and they all look correct in the CRM so I don't know what's happening during the merge that is throwing them off.  The only difference is that the pre-made field works and all the ones I added do not.
