Hello everyone,

You can now create and test Mail Merge templates directly in Sandbox, making it easier to validate document generation without affecting your live organization.

Why this matters

Mail Merge templates are often used to generate customer-facing documents such as contracts, quotes, invoices, and letters. Even small changes to merge fields or document layouts can affect the final output. Sandbox support lets you validate these templates safely before recreating them in your live organization.

With Mail Merge templates now supported in Sandbox, you can:
  1. Design and refine Mail Merge templates safely.
  2. Validate merge fields and document layouts using Sandbox data.
  3. Test template changes without impacting your live organization.



Zoho CRM now supports the following template types in Sandbox:
  1. Email templates – available for all modules.
  2. Inventory templates – available for inventory modules.
  3. Mail Merge templates – available for all modules.


Test Mail Merge without deployment

You can use Sandbox to validate Mail Merge templates and ensure they work as expected without affecting your live organization.

Supported merge options

The following Mail Merge actions are currently supported in Sandbox:
  1. Merge as a new document
  2. Merge and send as an email

Each Sandbox organization includes 1,000 Mail Merge credits, with a maximum usage of 100 credits per day. These credits are shared across both supported Mail Merge actions.

Notes
Important: You can create and test Mail Merge templates in Sandbox. However, deployment of Mail Merge templates from Sandbox to production is currently not supported.
