Make your CRM layouts dynamic with conditional layouts!

Conditional layouts in Zoho CRM offer you an interface to seamlessly manage the dependency between fields in a layout.

Your sales data are often inter-dependant. Let's say Zylker Real Estates deals in the sale of residential property - such as apartments, plots and villas.

While you create a new record for an apartment, certain fields in the form may become irrelevant. For example, fencing details may be required for plots but not for apartments. But they are still present on the layout. There may be several such fields which you may or may not require based on the value of a specific field. It becomes a cumbersome process to hunt for the right fields in a form that is cluttered and so the interface is not very user-friendly.

This is where conditional layouts enter the picture.

With conditional layouts, you can make your layouts dynamic - that is, you can establish an interface in which, the particulars in a layout change based on a value entered previously. This helps you reduce clutter. Note that you are not eliminating fields from the layout, you are only controlling how a layout appears based on certain field values.

Layout Rules
Conditional layouts are established by creating layout rules. Using layout rules, you can trigger three actions based on specific conditions.
  • Display section
  • Display field
  • Set mandatory fields

In Zylker's example mentioned above, layout rules can be created to achieve the following results.

Display section
The Apartment section in the layout is displayed only when the Property Type is Apartment . In other cases, it remains hidden.

Display field
The Apartment Amenities field displays a list of facilities. If the option "Other" is chosen, the Other Amenities text box is displayed. On all other instances, it remains hidden.

Set mandatory fields
Additional charges is a regular field used for any miscellaneous charges. But if Additional Services are chosen, Additional charges field becomes mandatory. In other cases, it remains non-mandatory.

So, an entire layout can be made dynamic with the help of layout rules, thereby making your layout more optimized and clutter-free. Try them right away.
