Marking Tasks Complete in the Mobile App

Marking Tasks Complete in the Mobile App

Most of my business happens on the phone, so for Zoho to be truly useful to me, I need really strong feature support from the mobile apps. When scheduling my business activities for the day, what I will typically do is create a task to call each prospect that I plan to talk to that day. There are two things that make this a much more tedious process than it needs to be:

#1 When viewing an activity - in this case a task or call - in the mobile app, from the top level view it only shows the subject of the activity and the due date. It does not show the associated lead/contact/account/potential until you actually click on a particular activity. So this means that in order for the list view in the app to be useful to me, the subject needs to contain the name associated with the activity. But let's say that go to a particular contact, and I want to schedule a task reminding me to call that contact later today. When I create the task, the subject field is empty by default, meaning that I have to manually type in the contact's name. If I want to schedule 50 calls for the day, that's a lot of extra typing just to set up my list, when that time could better be spent actually on the phone talking to those people. To fix this, you could either have the subject default to the contact's name when you create the activity from inside the contact's database entry (and the same for leads, accounts, and potentials) -OR- alternatively you could have the associated lead/contact/account/potential display in the top level list view for the activity in the mobile app, so that if I have a task scheduled for John smith, I can see John Smith's name attached to the activity in the list even if it's not in the Subject field. I would actually think this would be the preferable solution and easier to implement.

#2 So once I actually have created the task to call John Smith, lets say I pull that task up in the mobile app, and I am ready to call John. I can't call him directly from the  Task - I have to navigate to his contact entry that is attached. So I can place the call from there, and when I'm done, the app will ask me if I want to log the call. So I can log it and attach any notes, but now the original task that I created is still in complete. So I have to navigate back to the task, EDIT it, change the status field to complete, and save it, in order to mark it complete and move to the next one.

That is a lot of extra steps for what should be a much simpler, more straightforward process. There are two things you can do to fix this:

#1 If a task has an associated lead, contact, or account, then the dial icon in that task entry should link to the phone number of the associated lead or contact so that you can dial directly from the task, instead of having to actually navigate to the lead or contact and leave the task entry.

#2 From within the task, there should be a simple check box allowing me to mark the task complete, without having to EDIT the task and manually change the status field. By their very nature, tasks are designed to be completed, and so marking the task completed should be as simple as possible and not require multiple steps.

If those two issues were fixed, that would probably shave off an extra 45 seconds to a minute of time for every call that I made, and allow me to actually spend more time ON the phone talking to my prospects.
