More custom fields

Hi.
I'm sure there is a good reason for having limits to the number of custom fields we can create but do you think it is possible to have more than the current settings. For example you can only create 10 boolean fields in contacts but i have need of at least 20 or 30.

the 60 custom text fields is also difficult to manage but have done what I can. It would be a huge help to be able to create as many as required.

Is this possible at all?
Can you please explain why there is a limit?
