multiple custom quote or invoice templates

Is it possible to have more than one quote or invoice template that can be opened to use as required.
My impression is that its not the case and that only default templates will be opened if i choose to create a quote for example from a customer contact page in th eoptions list at the bottom.

I guess i might have to clarify...
when i'm looking at a contact's details if i scroll down in the view i see a link to make a new quote and another for a new invoice among other options (new note, Add product etc.).
If i want to make a new invoice i would select the tab for new invoice then it would open the invoice page where i would add the relevant details.

Is it possible to have a folder of newly customized templates and pick which one i want to use each time i make an invoice or do i have to just set one of them as the default and leave it at that?
