My contacts Facebook account does not show up in the facebook search.

My contacts Facebook account does not show up in the facebook search.

I have confirmed my contact's facebook account name, yet when I click on the FB link under my Contact pic and type their facebook account name, exactly as it is shown in facebook, their name does not show up in the list.  Yet, when I put my own facebook acct. name in the search - it works.  How can I get to my contact's facebook page to create the link?
