Nested Exception Error while adding email accounts

Unable to add email accounts like yahoo/hotmail, because of the error below.

"Connect failed; nested exception is: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out "

Perhaps, my settings are wrong. Is there a help/how-to on adding email accounts. More specifically the incoming/outgoing server and port nos.
