I've noticed the new addition to the UI, where recognized transactions are called out for potential categorization. That is a nice addition.
This could be made even better, though.
Right now, when one presses the blue Categorize checkmark, all it does is pop up the same dialog box that would come up if the transaction were otherwise selected. It doesn't even default to the Categorize Manually tab. Not a UX improvement at all. In fact, it sort of detracts from the UX, because the behavior isn't what the user would expect.
As a user, the expected behavior would be that when the blue Categorize link is checked from the feed, that transaction would just be categorized as shown without any other user input. All of the information that is necessary to check on the suggested categorization is there on the feed screen. If I want to change anything, I can just click the transaction and proceed normally.
Bonus suggestion: What would really be the cat's meow is if this could be done in bulk. Let users check a bunch of transactions, click 'categorize' button, and the software would categorize the recognized transactions based on the rule matched to the transaction.
These sorts of software UI/UX efficiencies applied to the manual part of bookkeeping can really help.
