New MacBook Air and Excessive IMAP use

New MacBook Air and Excessive IMAP use

I an not very computer literate, so please be patient.  I just got a new MacBook Air and tried to set up the mail program on the computer.  I copied my settings from my email account on my old MacBook Pro, and at first everything seemed fine, then I started getting hundreds of emails (and I am not exaggerating) in my new computer email.  At one point there were over 10,000!  There were a lot of repeats, because I do not have anywhere near that many emails in my Zoho account, and many I had trashed.  I contacted Apple, who told me that the Mac was just syncing with the Internet Zoho mail account and this issue would resolve itself once the sync was complete.  A lot of the email did start to disappear (I am now down to a "mere" 1144), but I now have this message on my computer email: "Your account is blocked from further IMAP use. This is caused due to excessive IMAP usage. For further clarifications please contact support@zohomail.com" I have sent a request to Zoho, but thought maybe someone here might also be able to help.  Thanks!
