Could you clarify whether you're unable to modify the portal tab configuration for the module in the portal, or if you're having trouble editing or making changes to a record within the custom module?
Providing more details along with an additional screenshot would help us check this further and assist you better.
Hello - I believe I have encountered the same problem as the original author of this ticket.
My "Client Portal" setup is in the screenshot below. All 4 of the highlighted modules are custom modules that contain Lookup fields to the "Contact" module (otherwise they would not appear on this list).
Notice that all 4 custom modules allow "Edit(Shared)" permission per Client Portal configuration in the screenshot.
All of "Entrepreneur Details", "Mentor Details", and "Mentorships" appear to properly respect the configuration and allow the Client Portal user to edit records associated to their corresponding Contact.
The issue is that "Sessions" are *visible* in the Client Portal, but they are NOT *editable*, and they should be editable.
In addition to this issue, I discovered that any fields that are "required" cannot be marked as "read-only". Why is this? When a Portal user has access to *edit*, it should be possible to lock specific fields so that only *portions* of records that already exist can be edited by the Portal User. Is there a reasonable way to accomplish this?

We request you write to support(at)zohocrm(dot)com and share the screenshots of the error of what happens when an edit is performed.

In Zoho CRM, when a field is marked as mandatory, it means that the User must fill it in while creating a record. Hence it cannot be read-only.
Currently, a field can be either mandatory or read-only, but not both.
When a Portal user has access to *edit*, it should be possible to lock specific fields so that only *portions* of records that already exist can be edited by the Portal User. Is there a reasonable way to accomplish this? To prevent a field from being edited, you can apply Record Locking Configuration to lock the record while allowing specific fields to remain editable as needed.
I will send an email to the support address with additional details. For anyone else reading this ... there is no blatant error, the issue is that the record is not editable when it should be. (the Portal user can view the "Session" record(s), but cannot edit them, even though the Portal configuration is set to "Edit(Shared)")
Record Locking Configuration sounds like it could work for our use case(s). I'll check this out, thank you!
