New updates in Zoho CRM this week include potential assignment rule for territories and workflow rule locking. Read on to find out more.
Potential assignment rule for territories
Earlier you could assign records to territories only based on an account rule. Now, you can assign records to territories based on a potential rule as well.
For example, you have an account called
Acme Inc. Two potentials "Web design deal" and "Social media marketing" are associated with it. While you want to categorize
Acme Inc based on the type of enterprise, you don't want the same categorization for potentials associated with it. You want the potentials to go under another territory classified based on the expected revenue. But with only an account assignment rule, this is not possible.
Hence the introduction of a potential rule. Now you can configure a potential rule for a territory so that "social media marketing" goes under a territory called "Revenue more than 50000" while its associated account,
Acme Inc, is still under a territory called "Large Enterprises". If you do not configure a potential rule, the potential will be classified based on its associated account rule.
Note: If there is no potential rule associated with the first-level sub territory, Zoho CRM checks for a potential rule in the second level.

Workflow Rule Locking
Workflow rules are quite important as they help automate a set of actions (alerts, tasks and field updates) when a record meets the defined criteria. If these are changed even by mistake, it may affect an entire workflow process, which could be damaging to business.
So now, you have an option to lock a workflow rule that you have configured. When you lock a rule, no other user, except fellow admins can edit the rule or the actions associated with it. This way, you can ensure that a rule cannot be changed even by mistake.
While locking the rule, specify the reason why you choose to lock it so that other admins understand your concerns before they try to edit it.

In addition to these, we have introduced an option for you to delete forecasts.
Besides this, you will now also be able to remove the targets of territories/roles that you have deleted.
