So working with the "new" Quotes module this morning, found it to be somewhat better, still needs some work though. Problem I run into this morning is that there is no "shipping" field, looked high and low, no joy. There is however an "add line item"....problem with that is that it treats shipping like an inventory item and unless you are "stocking" shipping then you end up with a negative balance for that product. This is clumsy and just wrong. There should be just an open field that you can add shipping charges to in the same fashion as discounts or adjustments. This seems pretty basic and I can't understand how this elementary item is handled this way.
And while I'm ranting....:0, Lets talk about labor, labor in the product category does the same thing, if anything there should be a way to add labor without the penalty of negative balance for in stock items. So create an custom product item for labor that has no stocking. That would fix that.
I have other ideas to correct awkward handling throughout the product but lets start with these two and move forward.
