oAuth2 - Get proper api_domain for developer account connections

Hi I found a question related to the oAuht2 flow for ZohoCRM. Is there a way to get api_domain from the /oauth/v2/token service having https://developer.zohoapis.com path, like for zoho.com accounts? Seems even if the developer account is selected in oAuth popup, the https://www.zohoapis.com api_domain is returned. Is this expected behave or can be somehow fixed? What I would like to achive is to get https://www.zohoapis.com when user selects in the popup production account or https://developer.zohoapis.com when developer account is chosen. Is this possible to do? Best, Donald.
