old emails missing

I have seen some other threads indicating to check the archive for old emails, but I have it set up to not archive anything, and I cannot find an archive anywhere to look at. A lot of my old messages are gone - whole folders of emails, vanished. Does zoho automatically delete messages after a certain amount of time? I sure hope not!!
