Open Events Activity View shows "Contact"

Open Events Activity View shows "Contact"

In the Open Events Activity view, there is a field for "Contacts", but it always shows blank. I want it to show a designated contact for an account, but can't even seem to choose a Contact in the Add Event or edit Event dialogue boxes. Any suggestions?

Also, is there a way to filter the views in the Activity tab, or can that only be done via Reports?
