Percentage change in Y axis of chart

What is the way to make a chart graph the percentage change from some initial value?  Think of a chart that shows the percentage gain or loss in NAV of a stock account, relative to some benchmark.  The user of the chart could change the period they are interested in seeing based on their preference, but the chart would always graph correctly.
