Personal e-mail notifications setup

I think that Zoho has been choosing the wrong way to enable e-mail notification. It goes agains the way it is done in other systems.

The Zoho way:
  1. Creator decides that something (like a task) must send notifications.
  2. Assignee receives the notification, even if he's not the creator.
In few words, the person to be bothered by the notification has no way to say that he doesn't want to be bothered. At the same time, that same person has no way to say that he *always* wants to get notified. All the power is on the hands of the item creator, at the moment of item creation.

The common way:
  1. Users have a setup page for notification, listing all kinds of notification to receive.
  2. On items creation, notifications are sent based on the assignee's configuration. The item creator has no power to decide this.
I believe that the common way is the one to follow. Sounds reasonable and more efficient.
