Please better scheduling

My usual request. As a service company with engineers on the road the office staff organise the appointments. It would be so great if the calendar was colour coded to make appointment type easier. Yes I know that we keep asking and the stock response is no plan and to use multiple accounts for different people.
Does anybody have a better plan to aid appointment scheduling.
