I was quite enthusiastic about proposing Zoho Mail and deskstop to my small workgroup. Up to now they have not had any structured version tracking and have relied on email and phone to keep track of tasks. In the last 3 days I have been trying to get a handle on how to run it as admin. It seems like a very good fit for a group with members living in different countries and always on the move

And perhaps it is, for those who understand how to configure it and implement its features. I have no previous experience with desktop collaboration apps. I read and understand what this product is capable of doing, but can find no documentation to tell me how to perform the operations necessary to make the features work.

Please don't tell me to read the FAQ or to search the forums or blogs - I have invested many hours in doing that already. The FAQ is weak and the developers' responses in the forum tend to be very terse and short on usable information.

I realise that you are going through an amazing period of software development and there are many tasks to be performed, BUT...

You need to provide users with proper documentation - tutorials (text or video), manuals.

You've got the positive press reviews from tech magazines, but if you really want to get market penetration, you really must hire the technical writers to provide the information to people like me who do not find your product intuitive. Zoho Mail/Office is already in v3.x - I never heard of anything beyond early Beta that didn't have at least some kind of documentation. Can we expect this with v4.0 - before year end or just when all your other work is done and you finally get around to it?

Perhaps because I haven't paid any money for the product, I have no right to complain. I have dozens of GNU Linux packages which I never paid for either, but they were all well-documented.

We won't be implementing Zoho Mail this fall, as hoped, but I'll keep checking back and I hope the situation will improve before long.
