POP problem

Since June 1th I cannot get my emails anymore with my Mozilla ThunderBird client. Nothing changed over here, but I am getting a message that ThunderBird is downloading new mails. The number of new mails exceeds by far the number of emails still not received at my email client. After a while of activity the activity stops, while nothing has happened. The only message I got here was: downloading message 1 of 116 of <email account>. What happened? Did something change at June 1th?
