As much as I enjoy Zoho Creator's ease of building apps, the customer portal feature is the complete opposite. Nothing about this good or useful because apparently it doesn't even work.
Boy am I glad I paid $99 a month for it. What a sweet deal.
Let's start with the image I see when I click on the portal link I setup...
Uhh... what exactly am I supposed to do here?
By the way, it looks like this in every single major browser and on two different computers in my home. I've unpublished, republished, cleared cookies, emptied caches... the whole bit.
That's all I see.
It actually gets better from here...
Just exactly how am I supposed to add a user to this thing? I have tried at least a dozen times to set up the user, send the invitation e-mail, click the invitation link, setup the password, and on and on and on...
But the user is never, NOT ONCE, authenticated in the application.
The system WILL NOT authenticate me at all and WILL NOT deliver a success message to Application Settings > Customer Portal > Users
And yes, I have the portal configured to not allow self-registration.
2. When I get prompted to try and fix the login/password credentials as the new user, guess what image I see?
Yup...
So right now, I can't use this portal thing at all which is really annoying at $99/month.
Here is what I want to do:
1. Setup a user
2. Have that user be able to login to the portal
3. Get the message that the user has been authenticated
4. Allow my users access to my awesome Zoho app
5. Live happily ever after
Good grief what a nightmare this thing is...
