#5 The Pay Now Button That Changes Everything

#5 The Pay Now Button That Changes Everything

Collecting payments is all about convenience, right?

Most customers don't intentionally delay payments. Often, invoices remain unpaid simply because the payment process feels inconvenient, unclear or time-consuming. When paying becomes quick and effortless, invoices tend to get cleared much faster.

That's exactly why online payments have become such an important part of modern invoicing. As businesses simplify the payment experience, they not only reduce delays but also significantly improve their cash flow.

As John McMahon, Owner of Global Premier Sourcing Ltd, shares: "The ability to receive online payments has helped me get paid faster and manage my cash flow. It's an intuitive and extremely beneficial software that I regularly use."

Adding an online payment option in Zoho Invoice removes the friction and makes it easier for clients to pay instantly.

Go to Settings -> Online Payments

Connect your preferred payment gateway and enable

  1. Online card payment

  2. Bank transfer options

  3. Multiple payment gateways

  4. Invoice payment link

  5. Customer payment notifications

This is important because a Pay Now button inside the invoice can help you,

  1. Get paid faster.
  2. Improve cash flow.
  3. Reduce payment follow-ups.
  4. Make payment easier for clients.
  5. Track payment status automatically.

Even a small improvement in payment turnaround time can have a huge impact on your business cash flowMaking it easy to pay is one of the simplest ways to reduce outstanding payments.

Notes
Important Action:
Take a moment to verify how payment options appear on your invoices.

Go to
Settings -> PDF Templates -> Invoices -> Edit -> Other Details -> Enable Online Payment Link.

It's better to
test the payment flow using a sample invoice and verify if the Pay Now button appears properly on PDF and online invoices.

ACH payments have a different setting altogether. For gateways like Stripe ACH, there are two additional options to enable, in addition to ACH.
  1. Instant Verification through Stripe Financial Connection in the Online Payment gateway setup page.

  2. Allow this customer to pay via bank account at the customer level.

A payment gateway that is connected but not fully configured can confuse customers and delay payments.

Info

Things to Remember

Late payment is usually a friction problem, not a customer problem. The easier you make the payment experience, the faster invoices tend to get cleared.

Idea

Pro Tip: Use Request Payment Information (if supported in your edition) to collect your customer's card or bank information, so you can initiate charges when the client has trouble processing the payment on their end.

Warning

Watch out: Although Zoho Invoice itself does not charge any transaction fee for online payment, transaction fees are real and are processed by the gateway. Before enabling online payments, check the gateway transaction fee, currency conversion fees, etc.
