Problem importing date column from Excel

What is the best way to format a date column in Excel for importing to Zoho Reports so that it is imported as a date and not a plain text.

I format the column in Excel [date and chosse one like dd/mm/yyyy]

But it will only import it as plain text. When I set the date format in Reports Import sequence it imports with errors.

Any hints on the best way to import dates from Excel sheets so that it is stored as a date in Reports.
